Do You Live in a Pickleball Hotbed? | Pickler Pickleball

According to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) 2019 Pickleball Participant Report, there are four regions in the United States that are popular for the most passionate pickleball players (also known as core pickleball players, which are defined as pickleball players that play pickleball 8 or more times per year). These four regions, which account for almost 75% of all core pickleball players in the United States, are:

  1. South Atlantic (FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, WV, DC) = 276,000 core pickleball players
  2. East North Central (WI, MI, IL, OH, IN) = 268,000 core pickleball players
  3. Pacific (CA, OR, WA) = 260,000 core pickleball players
  4. Mountain (AZ, NV, NM, UT, CO, ID, WY, MT) = 164,000 core pickleball players

Do you live in one of these pickleball hotbeds? Where do you think the best pickleball players come from? Share in the comments below!

I live in South Orange County where you can find 100 or so places to play pickleball 15-20 miles of each other. Florida, it being the tennis capital of the world, has really brought out some of the best pickleball players in the professional realm.

I live in Minneapolis and we have a great group of players, we have a lot of up & coming players. Many 4.5 players who were 3.5 level one year ago. I assume the rest of the country will know many of the members in our groups names in the next few years. Many younger players who are very committed and playing all the time and improving extremely fast. Minneapolis used to have just a few 4.5 plus players and now there are many and most of these up and coming players have tons more potential. Minneapolis is a hotbed of great players.

Pickleball Rules to Know - Jumping In the Kitchen

by Stacie Townsend

Have you ever seen a pickleball player stand in the Non-Volley Zone (also known as the Kitchen), jump to hit the pickleball out of the air, and then land either inside or outside of the Kitchen? Then, the jumping pickleball player tries to argue that he/she did not commit a Non-Volley-Zone fault because he/she hit the pickleball while jumping in the air above the Non-Volley Zone? What's the proper ruling on the pickleball courts?
