Double Golds & Teen Talent Shines

At the PPA Bristol Open, men’s singles was full of surprises, highlighted by 17-year-old John Lucian Goins making an impressive run to the final. Goins capped off his breakthrough by defeating Gabriel Joseph to capture the gold medal. In women’s singles, Parris Todd held her ground to claim the top spot. The doubles side brought more familiar outcomes. Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns once again proved unstoppable, claiming gold in mixed doubles together, while also winning gender doubles with their respective partners, Anna Bright and Gabe Tardio.

The APP Great Lakes Open in Minnesota showcased a mix of first-time winners and title defenses. Ammar Wazir captured his first APP gold in men’s singles, while Sofia Sewing pulled off the “double double,” winning women’s doubles alongside Bobbi Oshiro and mixed doubles with Casey Diamond, who earned his first medal on tour. On the defending side, Katerina Stewart successfully retained her women’s singles crown, while Richard Livornese Jr. and Tanner Tomassi continued to display their strong skills with back-to-back men’s doubles titles.

The first rounds of MLP Playoffs brought intensity across both the Premier and Challenger divisions. In Premier, Ben Johns powered the LA Mad Drops into the semifinals, while the Columbus Sliders stunned the higher-seeded Dallas Flash to keep their title hopes alive. The semifinals will feature the St. Louis Shock, New Jersey 5s, Columbus Sliders, and LA Mad Drops. In the Challenger league, both quarterfinals and semifinals played out, leaving the Las Vegas Night Owls and Nashville Chefs to battle for the championship and a coveted promotion into the Premier League.
