Professional pickleball had some fun in the sun at the 2023 APP New Jersey Open. ️ Mixed doubles and women’s doubles saw some new pairings in Avalon, New Jersey, as both Parris Todd and Megan Fudge faced injuries during women’s singles. Newcomers Jayden Broderick & Vinicius Da Silva won six straight games after an initial loss to earn their first professional medal, a bronze in men’s doubles.
The PPA Cincinnati Open, which took place Thursday, September 7, through Sunday, September 10, coincided with the APP New Jersey Open. The men’s singles bracket had some unexpected twists and turns with Ben Johns losing the gold medal to Federico Staksrud. Despite his loss in men’s singles, Ben Johns had a groundbreaking accomplishment to celebrate, as did Anna Leigh Waters. Johns won his 100th career title while Waters earned her 18th career triple crown.
