Play Without Pressure

Quick Tips Pickle4 Team 10-04-2024

In the world of pickleball strategy, one crucial element that is often overlooked is maintaining a relaxed state on the court. Marianna Petrei demonstrated the importance of this skill when she made it to the quarterfinals in her first-ever professional pickleball tournament at the PPA Utah Open. Marianna said part of the strategy behind her impressive performance was “playing without pressure.”

On the pickleball court, it can be easy for tension to disrupt your balance, especially during intense matches. It’s important to keep a calm and clear mindset to allow for more strategic and effective pickleball play. Staying relaxed can also help you keep a loose, relaxed grip on the pickleball paddle, giving you a softer touch, more control of your shots, and faster hands. If you feel yourself becoming tense on the pickleball court focus on breathing evenly to keep your body loose and responsive. Remaining cool, calm, and collected will help you improve your decision making and allow for heightened awareness of the game, giving you the upper hand against your opponents.

Remember, a relaxed player is a powerful player, so play without pressure!
